Emirates To Reduce US Flight Frequencies US Dubai

Emirates To Reduce US Flight Frequencies

US
Dubai

Emirates will reduce Flight frequencies to several US destinations as demand drops following travel restrictions introduced by the Trump government.

Five routes out of a total of 12 that Emirates operates to the US will be affected, with Dubai Flights to Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles, Orlando and Seattle seeing a reduction in frequencies.

The schedule changes start on May 1 when the daily Fort Lauderdale service drops to five times per week, and from May 23 the daily Orlando Flight also drops to five a week.

Boston and Seattle’s double daily Flights will drop to a single daily Flight from June, and the Los Angeles double daily Flight also drops to daily from July.

Emirates said the recent actions taken by the US government have had a direct impact on consumer demand into the United States. The UAE carrier said it would deploy capacity elsewhere in its system and would resume its growth in the US as soon as it is viable.

Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways said it has not seen the same drop in demand and currently plans no service changes on US Flights.

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport
World’s Busiest Airport

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is forecast to take the 2016 title as the “World’s Busiest Airport.” It would mark the 19th consecutive year Atlanta's Airport counted more passengers than any other Airport on the planet.

That’s according to the preliminary full-year passenger numbers for 2016 released Wednesday by the Airports Council International (ACI) trade group. Though preliminary, the rankings are unlikely to change when the “final” numbers are confirmed later this year.

As for Atlanta, not only did it hold on to the top ranking, but it also counted more than 100 million passengers for the second year in a row. Atlanta became the first Airport in the world to break that threshold in 2015, when it processed 101.5 million passengers. The passenger count rose again by 2.6% in 2016, jumping to 104.2 million fliers, according to ACI’s preliminary numbers.

A Kalitta Air Boeing 747-200 delivers a soft puff of white smoke as the jet completes its second-to-last landing ever Thursday at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. On Friday, the jet and its crew will shuttle the airplane back to Kalitta Air’s home base in Michigan, where the airplane will be retired for good by the cargo carrier.

In a time when the iconic jetliner has been disappearing from fleets across the globe at an astounding rate, another 747 biting the dust may not seem particularly remarkable. Yet this particular airplane stands out among the crowd: It’s one of the last airworthy 747-200s.
“I tell ya, this is a nice airplane. It’s old-school,” Capt. Scott Jaykl says during a post-landing interview aboard the aircraft.

Built in 1987, Capt. Jaykl’s jet was among the last "-200" variants of the 747 to come off the assembly line. The model was then replaced by the updated 747-400 in 1989, and the -200 variant -- which debuted in 1971 -- ended production completely a few years later.
